I love doing commission work... but frankly its hard sometimes to feel like I can give one an honest quote on the price of their portrait. The pricing structure I have below is what I have come up with... worse case. There are a number of things you can do to make your price lower.
1) Send me several (5 or more) options of the photo you want done and let me pick from those. Please understand if you send me a photo of your dog and he is just a blurry black blob, the painting I make is going to be a blurry black blob... I can't make up what I don't see. That is why several photos are helpful. You can either email them or send them by US Postal service.
2) Size does matter... the bigger you go the more painting I have to do but some portraits lend themselves to a different format than those presented here. If you send me a photo that I think would look better in a different dimension I will email you with my ideas. I might make other suggestions also, please consider them. My fondest wish is that you be EXTREMELY happy with the results and while I can't read your mind I can tell you what I think will make for a more interesting portrait.
3) Tell me a little about your pet... is he/she shy, out going, sneaky... the more I know the closer I can come to matching their personality to the painting. "IF" you live in central Florida I would love to schedule a photo shoot of your dog. There is no additional charge for local shoots. I will travel to either the Tampa area or the Orlando area for a small travel per diem. Shoots within 30 miles of home are on me!
4) Schedule way ahead of your needed time.! I do not take any work for Christmas after Halloween. Using that as an example... please let me know if you have a specific date in mind or if you are flexible.
5) I keep the copyright on all work I do but, may ask you for the right to reproduce and sell copies of your original. PLEASE NOTE: You DO NOT have the right to reproduce my work for commercial sales even if you do not agree to allow me to reproduce copies.

I cannot fairly give you an estimate from a chart... there are a number of variables some are listed above, some are determined by time frames or other "unknown" variables. The prices I have quoted below are the highest you can expect to pay but I will not start until we have settled on a price... clear sailing can lower your costs as much as 30% ... if you're a friend, family or a previous collector of my work... can get you rock bottom pricing!

Shipping and handling is NOT INCLUDED IN ANY PRICING MENTIONED ON THIS SITE... THOSE PRICES ARE BILLED AT COST AND WILL BE PROVIDED PRIOR TO mailing date for Commission work.
I use a canvas that is 3/4" thick. This type is suitable for framing or "just" hanging the canvas, as I do paint over the sides. If you would like a thicker canvas I can give you a quote on 1 - 1/2" thick.

Graphite work is done on board, not paper and will be delivered flat in a protective mat.

Watercolors are completed on 1 10 lb. Watercolor paper and are shipped rolled for their protection if larger than 11 x 14..

HOW TO START COMMISSION THE PROCESS...
Email me at [email protected] or use the contact button below. I will answer you within 3 business days and we can begin the process.... Its not as complicated as I just made it sound!
You send me your photos... I prefer they come in digital form but if you have to mail them that is fine!

When I contact you we will discuss what you want, what you expect and how we are going to handle the contract and deposit. I have a standard "Fine Arts Contract" (see the attached below) that has to be filled out and mailed back to me.
I will be in contact with you throughout the process and will email you photos of your work as it progresses. A final photo will be mailed for approval, you will be informed of shipping cost (they will be added to your Paypal invoice with the remaining funds due) Once payment is made your work will be shipped.
This processes "should" take less than 3 weeks... the "should" is there because of possible changes/corrections throughout the process.
